Ford has presented in China its new medium-sized SUV Territory, a model that will start selling in the Asian giant in 2019. For the time being, the US firm has not confirmed that it will market this new model in markets other than China.
Ford assures that one of the essential characteristics of Territory 2020 will be its competitive price. Due to the vehicle typology – a medium-sized SUV – this new model could share genes with the new Kuga generation that the oval firm is already fine-tuning. In turn, the new Kuga that we will see throughout 2019 will use much of the technical and mechanical platform of the new generation of the Focus, one of the most advanced C-segment compact cars of the moment.
2020 Ford Territory Release Date
The 2020 Ford Territory has been developed jointly with the Chinese partner Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC). The launch of this new SUV in the largest automotive market on the planet is included in the strategic plan Ford China 2025, by which the American company plans to market something more than 50 new vehicles in the Asian giant.
Among the main features of the 2020 Ford Territory, this new SUV will include a modern information and entertainment system, a device that will also be offered with voice functions in Mandarin Chinese.
In the mechanical chapter, at the moment Ford has not specified in a concrete way the engines and the different versions with which the Territory 2020 will be sold. Yes, it has confirmed that there will be a gasoline engine, another variant of mild hybridization type “mild hybrid” with 48 Volt system and a new plug-in hybrid version plug-in.
The global security system and Co-Pilot360TM driving aid assistants released in the new Ford Focus will also be part of the Ford Territory equipment. Among the different systems included in this technology, it is worth highlighting an intelligent and adaptive cruise control and the emergency automatic braking system with a warning of collision danger, among other devices.
