The third generation of Mercedes plug-in hybrid vehicles continues to surprise. If we recently knew its variant with the Diesel engine in the E-Class, now the brand of the star reveals definitely the specifications of a second version, in this case, driven by a gasoline engine. The 2020 Mercedes E300e E-Class, which is what it’s called, can already be ordered at dealerships from $74,638, although its first units will begin to be delivered in the month of April.
Very advanced and efficient, this new Mercedes E300e, which will only be available in saloon body, surprises for its performance and low consumption. Its mechanical assembly is composed of a 2.0-liter petrol engine with 211 hp and a 90 kW electric motor. Thus, in combination, the hybrid system is capable of delivering up to 320 horsepower (235 kW) with 700 Nm of maximum torque. The system is associated with an automatic 9-speed 9G-Tronic gearbox.
Mercedes E300 E-Class Specs – Zero Emissions
The Mercedes E300e E-Class also has lithium-ion batteries, now modified in the chemical composition of its cells. With this, the brand ensures that it offers a much higher energy content ( 13.5 kWh compared to just 6.4 of the previous generation) without needing to change the space for its assembly. Its autonomy in 100% electric mode is now 50 km in NEDC2.0 cycle (before 33 km), which gives it the environmental label Zero Emissions of the DGT.
With all this technical scheme, the 2020 Mercedes E300e promises great performance, announcing a 0 to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds (before 6.2), with a maximum speed of 250 km /h, then in electric, It can exceed 130 km/h. And the best thing is that all these benefits come accompanied by a great efficiency: it announces an average consumption of 2.1 l / 100 km of fuel and 14.5 kWh / 100 km of electricity consumption in mixed cycle.
As announced by Mercedes, thanks to the onboard charger with a power of 7.4 kW, the battery of the 2020 Mercedes E300e can be charged from 10 to 100% in only 1.5 hours per connection to a Wallbox and at maximum power. In a conventional current outlet, the period is estimated at about 5 hours.
Regarding the charging of its electrified models, it is worth remembering that Mercedes and Endesa have developed the Load & Install Package, as an option in the sales process. This allows the installation of a Wallbox for $1,800 when ordering the car.
