The Beijing show 2018 will see, in less than a month, the premiere of a new SUV in Volkswagen. It will be called 2020 VW Tayron and will be based on the Tiguan.
The name of the new Volkswagen SUV is definitively confirmed: Tayron. Less than a month ago we talked about this new model that had already been approved by the German brand. However, then we only knew its internal code: “Volks-SUV” or, what is the same, “popular SUV” in German. Today, thanks to two first photos of the model filtered by the Chinese portals Autohome and CarNewsChina, we have known its final denomination through the legend that shows in its gate.
Although for the moment it seems that it will not reach Europe, at least in its first phase of marketing, the new Volkswagen 2020 VW Tayron is born as SUV of global conception developed with its local partner FAW. With this model, Volkswagen continues to take steps in its new strategy that we already told you, and in which its managers assured us that they would count, up to 2022, with up to 9 different SUVs around the world.
The Volkswagen Tayron, therefore, will be one of them and for the moment the first information in China ensures that it will reach the market before the end of the year. His official presentation will be in the new edition of The Beijing Show, which opens its doors to the public on April 25th.
2020 VW Tayron with MQB platform & Engine
Medium sized SUV, few data are known at the moment of this 2020 VW Tayron, except that it will be based almost entirely on our Volkswagen Tiguan and on the Archiempleada platform MQB. More robust and more square in size, it should be between 4.30 and 4.40 meters long.
We can also advance some data of the possible engines of the Volkswagen Tayron. And it is that, as can also be read and seen in the Insignia 380 TSI of its gate, everything indicates that obviously will count under its hood with a petrol engine TSI. Asian media confirm that the propeller to be launched on the market will be the 2.0 turbo of 220 hp power. At the moment, few more data can be advanced.
