An Electrical configuration is transferred to The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense to provide a differentiating plus in the offer that is offered at the electrification level in this sub-segment of premium utility SUVs where we do not find one hundred electrification percent, only plug-in hybrid in the case of the Mini Countryman.
Externally, the E-Tense is a DS 3 Crossback , no toast to the sun by the design team chaired by Thierry Metroz. As was the case with the e-208, the changes to find a minimal differentiating personality focus on the front grille and its frame, in addition to, in this case, the E-Tense front logo. Specific launch color also for this electrified option, which will then reach the rest of the range, and an interior in light tones that differentiates it from the rest of the spectacular finishes of the “conventional” DS 3 Crossback.
At the electrical configuration level, the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense is presented with a 50 kWh battery -350 kilos- to announce an autonomy of 320 km , with possibilities of charging up to 80 percent of the battery in a 100 kW supercharger in 30 minutes – full charge in a three-phase wall box household charger at 11 kW in five hours and in 7 and a half hours if the charger is single phase of 4 kW -. Interior & Driving
Sitting on the new DS 3 Crossback E-Tense , the steering wheel offers much more performance than a DS 3 Crossback petrol or diesel, with a digital front panel with a more screen possibility to receive electronic management information, something that is also You can see on the central screen thanks to a new key on the console in a rhomboidal way. The rest, like a DS 3 Petrol Crossback, including the three Normal, Eco and Sport driving modes, where engine management and steering sensitivity are modified to vary sensations.
In our 170 km long route onboard, I played with the three modes on a route with most secondary roads crossing infinite villages, although with greater preponderance for the Eco mode – with this car you finally recycle yourself mentally to enjoy consuming the essential-, to obtain an average consumption of 17.6 kWh/100 km associated with an average speed of 54 km/h.
This is a car that has a rounder roll than its combustion brothers having a lower center of gravity due to the placement of the batteries. The car flickers less, is more settled, with a greater sense of flying carpet, with a good work of suspensions – the rear axle is new to accommodate the battery pack.
The DS3 Crossback E-Tense moves in a price range between 38,300 euros and 43,200 euros.
