Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary: Special Gift Party For Roadster – To mark its 30th anniversary, Mazda will launch a special edition of the MX-5, the most popular roadster on the planet that has sold more than one million units worldwide.
Talking about roadsters or sporty two-seater cabriolets is synonymous with Mazda MX-5, the vehicle of this most popular type on the planet.
Throughout its four generations, the Mazda MX-5 has managed to seduce more than one million drivers around the world (in Europe, since its birth have registered just over 350,000 sales).
In 2019, this icon of the modern car industry turns 30 years old and, to celebrate it, the Japanese company will launch a special 30th-anniversary edition. The premiere of this commemorative version will take place in the next edition of the Chicago Motor Show(United States) to be held in February. It was precisely this same event thirty years ago that saw the birth of the first and original Mazda MX-5.
We must remember that the current fourth generation of the Mazda MX-5 shares a technical platform with the Fiat 124 Spider. Both the Japanese and the Italian model are distinguished mainly by offering light weight, a low center of gravity and chassis adjustments that make both roadster two of the most exciting cars to drive today.
Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Specs
In the case of the Mazda MX-5 that is currently marketed in the Spanish market, its mechanical options are reduced to two atmospheric gasoline engines with Skyactiv-G technology of 1.5 and 2.0 liters of displacement of 132 and 184 HP, respectively. As for the types of roof versions with which it is sold, there is the “traditional” textile or canvas and the more sophisticated and elegant RF with a retractable hardtop. At the moment, the Japanese brand has not specified any technical detail of the Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition, as well as the more than likely design and special equipment that it will surely have.
According to Mazda, the MX-5 has been one of its vehicles that have best embodied the philosophy “Jinba Ittai”, the feeling of driver and car as a single experience or as a united whole hardly inseparable.
