Upcoming SUV Coupe 2020 – Arkana, VW Tiguan, Sportage, SEAT CUV & More – In 2019 the SUV market will grow with the arrival of new coupes models. The last to advertise is the 2020 Renault Arkana, but VW, Seat, Kia, Skoda or Peugeot also develop theirs.
The SUV coupe market, until now a niche practically reserved for premium manufacturers (BMW, Mercedes or Audi), will undoubtedly be one of the fashion categories in 2019. This type of vehicle, which has grown in size, size, and presence in all manufacturers, now explores new segments to try to expand its great commercial response. Yesterday we knew the first official data of what will be called Renault Arkana, a compact SUV coupe, however, will not be soon only among generalists.
Volkswagen, Seat, Kia, Peugeot or Skoda have already been working for months, with developments in the same line. Let’s see the Upcoming SUV Coupe 2020 one by one.
2020 RENAULT ARKANA
Announced yesterday, and officially presented next week at the Moscow Motor Show, Renault has given official status to what we already knew: it will launch in 2019 a new SUV Coupe. This first advance, called Arkana, will use the new CMF / C compact vehicle platform of the Renault / Nissan / Mitsubishi Alliance, the same of Nissan Qashqai or Renault Kadjar. Precisely, in the range of the brand, will be placed next to this last SUV, being slightly smaller, lighter and with a more sporty approach.
2020 SKODA KODIAQ GT COUPÉ
Another SUV coupe that is almost ready is the new Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupé. More exclusive and sporty, its arrival is announced for China at first, although it is not ruled out that it reaches other markets, such as Europe. Based on the current Kodiaq, but somewhat shorter (about 4.60-4.65 meters in length), it starts with a 2.0 TSI engine with 4 cylinders and powers of 190 and 230 HP.
VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN COUPÉ
However, even before Renault or Skoda, Volkswagen could surprise in the market with the launch of the Tiguan Coupé. From Germany point to the end of 2018 or early 2019, in the form of a new sports variant of an SUV that will already have the conventional version, plus the 7-seater Tiguan Allspace that was launched a few months ago. With the most powerful engines in the range and with an extra cost of about 1,500 compared to the current Tiguan, will undoubtedly be one of the stars next year.
2020 SEAT CUV
The plans of Seat for the next two years also happen to launch, possibly already in 2020, an SUV coupe that at the moment baptized in its development as Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV). With the same base and platform of the VW Tiguan Coupé and Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe, it promises slightly lower dimensions than a familiar Seat Leon ST (about 4.50 meters in length) and will offer a complete range with conventional, gas engines and even plug-in hybrids.
2020 PEUGEOT 4008
Yes, Peugeot 4008 … but with nothing to do with the 4008 we met. Under this name, from France, we are already pointing to the development of another SUV coupe that will complete the range of the brand along with the 3008 but in a more emotional format. According to these initial reports, it could reach the market by 2020 and would be developed on the EMP2 own platform and Opel Grandland X 3008. Its mechanical range will not very much with respect to other models of the group (with Diesel BlueHDi and PureTech gasoline), although at the beginning it is expected the appearance of a hybrid plug-in version.
KIA SPORTAGE COUPE
And another great SUV coupe that we could see already in the market in a few months is the Kia Sportage Coupé. Developed on the new compact SUV of the brand, could replace in the Korean range to the missing Pro Cee’d, to be between the Stonic and the current Sportage representing the most original and sporty compact variant. With dimensions between 4.30 and 4.40 meters, and manufactured in Europe, will feature the latest mechanical and technology of the brand, including its version EcoDynamic + with the mild-hybrid 48V system. Without a doubt, a most interesting model.
